This project ‘Family Constellations’ is about the spaces and relationships between people and the energies they possess. I took my inspiration initially from the healing technique founded by German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger. Family constellations, drawing on Phenomenology, and Zulu attitudes to the family, in order to release tensions, lighten emotional burdens and resolve real-world problems. It looks at the relationships and support systems existing within families both new and through previous generations, using Rupert Sheldrake’s ‘Morphic resonance’ hypothesis as the explanation for it. It shows how we have a collective experience with our ancestors, and their decisions have an impact on future generations.
